Post production work for James Cameron’s Avatar
The 3 minute clip of Cameron’s Avatar displays the use of sound effects and background effects from royalty free sound libraries as well as a full stereo mix.
The original was produced, recorded, and mixed as a group using Pro Tools. Tracked instruments included a bass guitar, electric guitar, and drums as well as a MIDI keyboard. The mixing process included mixing each instrument and vocal track individually on the SSL G Series console; various mixes were then internally printed into the Pro Tools session. Resulting in an A Cappella mix, TV mix, instrumental mix, and final complete mix.
Engineers were told to extract the instrumental stems from the original session and add them to another session with the artists vocal takes. Engineers were to then individually mix the song to their liking followed by a Dolby Atmos mix using either the internal or external Dolby Atmos Renderer.
This track consists of Latin American drums and rhythms within the Dominican dembow genre of music. The drums are accompanied by multiple MIDI instruments and clear instances of klangfarbenmelodie. The production process is audiably displayed as different sections and transitions are heard throughout the piece.
The SHINE stems were downloaded and imported into Ableton Live then manipulated by pitch bends and tempo changes to redefine the sample. Chops of the new sample were then rearranged to create a catchy melody. MIDI drums and accompanying instruments were added to complete this music piece. Latin Cumbia drums were incorporated to give the song more of a Spanish rhythm.
MAGIC! is a single recorded by a collective of audio engineers at the Metalworks Studios in Mississauga. The engineers then worked individually to fully mix the track in stereo and present it to the local artists.
Songwriting work done for Timothy Yongo’s EP, Love Never Really Dies; female vocal lyrics were written alongside other songwriters.
Electronic device was assembled according to the schematic provided by the manufacturer. Construction of the electronic device was neat, accurate and met the requirements of the manufacturer.
